Susan Hager is a registered architect and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture, the only strictly classical architecture program in the U.S. Her post degree work includes archeological research in Corinth, Greece as well as historic preservation in the U.S., working both with the Pittsburgh architect and historic preservationist, Terry Necciai, and the historic preservation firm, Joh Milner Associates (JMA) in Alexandria, VA. With JMA, she worked on a variety of projects including the Washington monument, the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima), and the Jefferson Memorial.
After moving to Nashville in 2004 and working in various capacities in the architecture field, Susan established the firm Susan A.B. Hager Architecture in 2011 and has worked on a range of projects, both historic and non-historic. She joined Historic Nashville, Inc in 2010 after volunteering at the joint HNI- Habitat for Humanity project in McFerrin Park. She then became a member of the tours committee and in 2012 joined the HNI board and served as board secretary for 2 years. She is currently the Membership Committee chair.
